ECC drops two at tournament

Ellsworth Community College played in their final regular season tournament over the weekend and fell in a pair of matches on Friday night.

At the Iowa Central Triton Tournament, the Panthers suffered a three set sweep versus No. 14 Neosho County Community College, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-9. The other Panthers recorded 42 kills and hit at a .235 clip in the win. They played scrappy defense with 45 digs and six blocks at the net.

In the second match on the same day, ECC fell 25-19, 25-10, 25-22 loss to Allen County Community College. The Red Devils recorded 39 kills, but it was their defense that made the difference. Four different players were in double figures digs with the team compiling 84 and they had 12 solo blocks and four assisting blocks.

The Panthers (15-13) will host Southeastern Community College on Tuesday and have three regular season matches left before the start of the Region XI Tournament.
