Iowa Lakes Community College used five forfeits to lock up the meet with Ellsworth Community College before they even entered Dittmer Gymnasium. With neither team having a grappler at 133, that left four matches to decide.
Josh Berlin was the lone victory and barely missed recording a major decision at 174, giving up a late takedown in an 11-6 win over Etheend Deyampert. Berlin controlled the bout with a late first period takedown and a reversal. In the second, he recorded a stalling point and four nearfall points. Deyampert booked a pair of takedowns in the third, the second coming with just 15 second left.
The Panthers missed out on a second win as Nicholas Fischer fell to Vincent Costabilo 4-1 in sudden victory at 157. The two went scoreless in the first. They traded escapes with Costabilo notching his in the second and Fischer scoring in the third. That forced the extra period. The Laker scored the winning takedown with 21 seconds left.
ECC's Tafari Parker fell 12-7 at 285 after opening the match with a takedown.
ILCC picked up another win at 141 with Logan McDonald stopping Gabe Brazzel in 1:16 with a 19-3 tech fall.
