Panthers drop pair to rated DMACC

Friday Ellsworth Community College played 11th-ranked DMACC and fell by 3-0 and 19-5 finals..

In the opener, the visitors scored three runs in the third frame which proved enough for the win. Offensively, the Bears had six hits with three doubles. The Panthers had five knocks, but could not get any run support. Melanie Khounsourath went 2-3 at the dish while Ella Garstang, Payton Nolan and Kiera Hochstein all had hits.

Taking the loss in the circle was Jolene Jordahl, going all seven innings with six hits, three runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

DMACC (43-10, 26-4) erupted in the first frame of game two – scoring 10 runs, including a home run and three doubles. ECC responded with a runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. A single, hit batter and another single juiced the bags for Emmalee Bell, who smoked a double to score three runs. Bell scored on a double by Cambree Sanders to cut the deficit to 10-4.

The Bears offense continued – scoring three runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth with 19 runs and 17 hits. East Marshall alum Morgan Neuroth had a two run home run in the third to add to the visitors lead.

Garstang, Khounsourath, Bell, Sanders, Millicent Wurst and Vada Campbell all had hits in the contest for the hosts.

Peytin Clemenson started the game and took the loss. She got the first two outs of the opening inning and allowed seven hits, 10 runs (five earned) and walked two. Wurst came in to throw the rest of the game and allowed nine hits, nine runs (seven earned) walked two and fanned five. DMACC had three dingers in five innings.
