The first game between Ellsworth Community College and Iowa Central Community College happened at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge and ended in five innings with the Tritons winning 10-1. The second was halted in the first frame due to rain with the visitors leading 5-4.
The two reconvened on Sunday in Iowa Falls and finished the second game with Iowa Central coming back to win (11-10). The last game took extra innings to finish with the rated Tritons holding on for the 3-2 victory.
The Panthers scored the first five runs of the game before Iowa Central (32-9, 17-6) then evened the mark at 5-5 in the bottom of the frame. ECC (19-24, 5-16) went back up on top in the second and added a run in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth the Tritons scored five more runs with the help of four hits to go on top 10-7. The Panthers cut into the deficit and got two runs back in the next inning.
ECC evened the score at 10-10 in the sixth. The Tritons recorded the winning run after a hit batter, error and walk loaded the bases. Jersey Hawf had a duck snort hit just over second base to score the winning run, 11-10.
Ainsley Brown was 3-3 at the dish with an RBI. Jolene Jordahl had a two run home run in the game. Millicent Wurst took the loss and threw two innings, allowed three hits, one run, walked two and fanned two. Peytin Clemensen started the game and allowed seven hits and walked four.
ECC led in the last game as well, scoring the first two runs in the fifth frame before Iowa Central evened the score at 2-2 in the sixth. The Tritons ended up scoring the winning run in the top of the 10th.
The Panthers outhit Iowa Central with eight knocks, with a two RBI double by Jordahl. Brown also had two hits.
Wurst threw 4.1 innings with six walks and 11 strikeouts and took the loss, Jordahl started the game with 5.2IP three hits, two runs and three walks.
The first game of the series in Fort Dodge was close until the fourth frame when the Tritons tallied six runs to pull away from the visitors.
