No. 23 NIACC used 25 hits in two games to defeat Ellsworth Community College by scores of 7-0 and 15-4 Tuesday afternoon.
In the first game win, Trojan Chloe Thurlby threw a no-hit, no-run seven innings and recorded 11 strikeouts. NIACC had a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh where they erupted for four runs to really pull away from the hosts. The Trojans smacked the ball around with 12 hits, six went for extra bases.
Alexis Obermeier took the loss in the circle and struck out one and walked two.
The visitors put up crooked numbers in four of the five innings in game two, earning the 15-4 win. The Trojans built a 9-1 lead after three frames before the Panthers cut the deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. A five-run fourth put the game away.
ECC was able to get contact with more base runners in the second game.
The Panthers recorded three hits, were walked twice and hit once. Jolene Jordahl smacked a three run double to lead the offense. Ella Garstang, Payton Nolan and Melanie Khounsourath all had knocks.
