Mason City, IA – In two games, No. 21 NIACC recorded 20 hits and 21 runs to hand Ellsworth Community College a pair of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference losses.
The first time the pair met in Iowa Falls, the Panthers split. Friday in Mason City, the Trojans won both contests by finals of 6-0 and 15-0.
NIACC (29-19, 13-9) scored four runs in the third and two in the sixth to pull away from the visitors in game one.
The Panthers had four knocks in the game but did not reach home plate. Taryn Petty had a double and a stolen base. Emmalee Bell, Julissia Arias and Ainsley Brown each had singles.
Angelica Agro took the loss, allowing nine hits, five runs, three walks and struck out four.
Game two ECC (16-24, 5-15) continued to hit the ball but could not record a timely hit to score. The hosts scored eight runs in the bottom of the second to build an 11-0 lead and added three in the third and one in the fourth to end the contest early.
Alli Paulsen and Arias both had two hits and a double at the dish. Ella Garstang, Bell and Kiera Hochstein were the other singles for the visitors.
In the two games, NIACC had nine extra base hits. In game two, the Trojans tallied four dingers and a double.
Peytin Clemensen took the loss in the circle, throwing 1.2 innings, allowing four hits, seven runs and walked three. Kaitlyn Mick came in for the final 2.1 innings and gave up eight hits, eight runs and walked one.
