Iowa Falls, IA – On Sunday in Iowa Falls, Ellsworth Community College gave Northeast Community College a taste of their own medicine and went 1-1 with a come from behind 11-10 victory. The Hawks (15-20, 3-7) then won game two and took the series, 12-2.
In the opener, the Panthers (12-16, 3-7) found themselves down 5-0 after three innings before they scored four runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-4. The visitors had a big sixth, scoring five runs to take control 10-5. Trailing by three runs, Kaitlyn Mick hit the go-ahead RBI in the seventh to walk off with the victory.
Ella Garstang was 2-3 at the dish with an RBI, Taryn Petty was also 2-3 with two runs batted in. The other knocks came from Alli Paulsen, Julissia Arias, and Kiera Hochstein.
Angelica Agro started the contest in the circle, going 5.1 innings and allowing seven hits, eight runs, walking six and striking out five. Hailey Sheaffer came in and got the win, going 1.2 innings, gave up two hits, one run and fanned three.
In game one, the Panthers tallied eight hits and in the second they had just five in the 12-2 victory. Arias and Petty both had doubles while Paulsen had her first home run of the season. Mylee Taylor and Mick each had a single in the loss. The Hawk pitchers fanned seven ECC batters.
Peytin Clemensen took the loss in the circle, going 3.2 innings and allowing eight hits, 11 runs, walking four and striking out one. Mick came in for relief and went 1.1 and allowed one run, walked two and struck out one.
