IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth CC placed 5 players on the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference All-Region teams announced by the league office. Sophomore Maddy Harding was named to the 1st team, freshman Angelica Agro and sophomore Elli Han were 2nd team selections and freshman Taryn Petty and sophomore Emma Gordon made the Honorable Mention list. For Harding and Gordon, it's the 2nd year in a row they earned a spot on the All-Region team; both were 2nd team choices as freshmen.
This spring Maddy Harding put together one of the best offensive seasons in ECC softball history. The outfielder from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, led the Panthers in nearly all offensive categories, batting .489 in 52 games. She paced Ellsworth in at-bats (180), runs (61), hits (88), doubles (22), triples (8), home runs (7), RBIs (56), total bases (147), slugging percentage (.817), on-base percentage (.533) and stolen bases (26). As a freshman, Harding produced a team-leading .438 batting average and led the team in almost every offensive statistic, including at-bats (130), runs (47), hits (57), doubles (11), triples (5), homers (6), total bases (96), slugging percentage (.738), on-base percentage (.507) and stolen bases (16). For her ECC career, Harding batted .456 in 98 games and finished her 2 years at Ellsworth at or near the top of just about all the offensive stats for a single season and a career.
Angelica Agro was the leader of the Ellsworth pitching staff during her freshman campaign, winning 11 games in 23 decisions and striking out 121 batters in 128 1/3 innings. She started 20 games in the circle and completed 16 of them. The native of Turin, Italy, also had 26 at-bats and 8 hits for a .308 batting average with 9 RBIs.
Elli Han, a sophomore infielder from Eudora, Kansas, contributed a solid season, her .426 batting average was 2nd on the squad. In 51 games, Han had 63 hits, 37 runs scored, 20 doubles, 3 home runs, 43 RBIs, 94 total bases, a .635 slugging percentage and a .497 on-base percentage.
Emma Gordon, from Barneveld, Wisconsin, was a 2-year starter for the Panthers and made the All-Region team this time as a utility player. Her average in the just-concluded season was .389 in 53 games. Gordon scored 44 runs with 63 hits, 35 RBIs, 70 total bases, and a .448 on-base percentage. She was a perfect 21-for-21 in stolen bases. Gordon ended her ECC career with a .378 average and 107 hits in 94 games. She scored 66 runs and knocked in 49 with 124 total bases.
Taryn Petty made the honor team as an infielder in her 1st season as a Panther. She posted a .358 batting average in 46 games, and had 8 doubles and 3 homers among her 44 hits. Petty had 32 RBIs, a .496 slugging percentage and .437 on-base percentage.
