Ellsworth Community College is thrilled to announce the addition of Joich Gong to the men's basketball coaching staff. Gong brings a strong background in player development and a deep understanding of the ICCAC conference, both as a former student-athlete and as a rising star in the coaching world.

Gong began his collegiate playing career in 2021 at Kirkwood Community College, where he competed in the ICCAC and gained firsthand experience in one of the nation's most competitive junior college conferences. He later transferred to Bethany Lutheran College in Minnesota to continue his playing career before seamlessly transitioning into coaching.

In 2024, Gong joined the Bethany Lutheran coaching staff, where he specialized in player development and high-level skills training across multiple levels of play. He also served as an Assistant Coach at Mankato East High School, further sharpening his ability to mentor and develop young athletes.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join ECC and be part of such an amazing staff," said Gong. "Having played in this conference, I understand the level of competition and what it takes to succeed. Coach Bender has built a winning culture here at ECC, and I can't wait to contribute to it. Excited to get to work—Go ECC!"

Head Coach Bryan Bender is equally enthusiastic about the new addition.

"We're excited to welcome Coach Joich to our ECC family," Bender said. "He's a perfect fit for our PhD culture. He is an elite communicator and trainer, wise beyond his years. Our players will benefit greatly from his knowledge, energy, and ability to connect."
