On Saturday, Ellsworth Community College visited ICCAC newcomer Central Community College and were 36 of 72 from the floor and made 10 three-pointers in an 86-64 victory.
The sixth-ranked Panthers (22-3, 12-3) trailed for less than a minute in the first half. The Raiders made a pair of free throws to take a 19-17 advantage before ECC went on a scoring spree. Started by a layup by Rav Randhawa, the visitors scored eight in a row unanswered to lead 25-19. The difference grew to nine a Christian Johnson triple (30-21) with 9:19 left before the break.
Central (10-16, 4-12) chipped away at the deficit and were within four, but it was short lived. Tanner Berggren made a jumper and kickstarted another run with the Panthers 11-4 and were on top by double figures for the first time (41-31) and led by 12 at the half.
ECC came out strong in the second half and continued to add to their advantage and Berggren drained a triple to extend the lead to 20 points (71-51) with nine minutes left to go in the game with the largest deficit 25-points late in the contest.
The Panthers got good minutes from their bench with four combining for 33 points and 16 rebounds. Five different players reached double figures. Jayden Pretty led with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Eesher Singh Sarai and Jonovan Wilkinson each added 14 and Berggren had 10 for the visitors.
