Panthers improve to 5-0

At the Reiver Classic, Ellsworth Community College defeated Neosho County Community College by a score of 101-73 and Labette Community College (85-71).

In Friday's game versus the other Panthers (3-1), ECC once again built a 49-32 advantage in the first half. The shots kept falling in the second half as ECC outscored Neosho by 11. The biggest difference came from the boards. ECC nabbed 60 rebounds to the Neosho's 27. Neosho only had eight offensive rebounds. Leading the way was Jayden Pretty with nine and Will Taylor added six. Every player but one that played nabbed a board.

ECC (5-0) drained 11 three pointers, five from Tanner Berggren who finished with 15 points. He was one of four to finish in double figures. Rav Randhawa was one assist away from a double-double with 20 points and nine assists. Jonovan Wilkinson and Pretty both added 13.

Against the Cardinals (1-3) on Saturday, ECC built a 10 point lead after the first 20 minutes (43-33). Labette hung around throughout the second half as the Panthers outscored them 42-38 for the 14-point victory.

ECC once again did a good job rebounding – nabbing 15 to the Cardinals 21. Pretty had a huge game on the boards with 17. He had a double-double with 16 points.
The scoring was distributed throughout the squad with all 11 that played getting in the points column. Four of those were in double figures. Wilkinson led with 18 points. Randhawa added 11 and Eesher Singh Sarai had 10.

The Panthers are one of six teams in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference to start the year undefeated. DMACC, Iowa Central, Iowa Western, Kirkwood and NIACC are all 4-0.
ECC is next in action at home in the Dale Howard Classic. The will play Jefferson College Friday and John Wood Community College Saturday.
