Ellsworth Community College put up eyepopping offensive numbers versus NIACC, improving to 13-0 with the 126-92 victory.
All 14 Panthers that played in the contest scored, five of which were in double figures. As a team, they shot 58.8 percent and drained 17 long balls.
The Trojans led once, briefly, to start the contest. ECC (13-0, 4-0) then went on a heater and went on a 10-3 run. Back-to-back three-pointers from Rav Randhawa and Tanner Berggren built a 13-point lead in the first period (20-6). The difference would swell to as many as 18 in the first half and be 59-43 at the break.
While NIACC (7-5, 1-3) would get to within 13, they could never get closer than that throughout the next 20 minutes as the Panthers got hot again and went on a run. With just under six and a half minutes left in the game, ECC broke the century mark with an Alex Charlotin layup (101-74).
Even with bench players in, the Panthers were draining threes and hit six in the second half.
Non-starters made up 65 points for the visitors.
Jonovan Wilkinson had the hot hand and led all scoring for the top team in the nation. He was eight of 11 from the floor, made five threes and finished with 24 points.
Charlotin was nine of 12 for 21 points. Also in double figures, Eesher Singh Sarai (17), Berggren (11) and Jayden Pretty (11). Pretty finished with a double-double and led the team with 10 rebounds.
ECC will host a top 10 showdown on Saturday with No. 7 DMACC (11-1, 3-0) coming to town.
