Ellsworth Community College hosted Region XI rival NIACC for one game Wednesday afternoon, the Panthers put up crooked numbers in five of six innings to record a 23-1 victory over the Trojans.
The hosts recorded 16 hits and five home runs through six innings of at-bats.
ECC led the game 4-0 after three frames due to two-run first and third innings. The offense started to really cook in the fourth, as the Panthers plated five in the fourth, eight in the fifth and six more runs in the sixth to account for their 23-run total.
Leading the individual highlights were Dylan Phelps, Eric McGill, Logan Bailey, Maddox O'Connor and Gavin Doll, as each player left the yard with a home run ball.
Phelps was 3-3 at the dish and knocked in seven runs. Adding three-RBI games were McGill, Bailey and O'Connor.
The beneficiary of all the run sport was starting pitcher Sam Wirag. He tossed the first six innings and scattered two hits while striking out five batters. He allowed one earned run and walked just two. Tye Schellhorn cleaned up the game with a scoreless top of the seventh to end the game.
Wednesday's victory squared ECC's Region XI record to 2-2 and they are now 10-16 overall.
