Iowa Falls, IA – The Ellsworth Community College Baseball team not only secured another key win on its march toward qualifying for the Region XI Tournament, but also set a new program benchmark in the process.

The Panthers hosted DMACC for a nine-inning game at Cadet Field on Wednesday, and seven combined runs in the seventh and eighth frames rallied the team to an 11-5 win.

That victory improved ECC to 24-18 overall and 11-10 in conference play. The 24th win is a new program record, breaking the old mark of 23 victories in a season set in 2003 according to ECC Coach Kirk Clark.

In order to break that record, the Panthers had to rally back from deficits of 3-1 and 5-4.

The offense was paced by Boston Doeschot's three hit afternoon that included his 15th home run, a triple and three runs knocked in. Eric McGill also produced a three-hit game at the plate with two homers and four runs driven in. McGill now has eight homers this spring.

Brandon Weigel tripled, singled and knocked in a pair, as the Panthers finished the game with 13 hits.

On the mound, four pitchers combined to complete the nine inning win. Mason Stenberg started the game and allowed three runs - one earned - in three innings of work. Jaden Morris was next in line and tossed three frames while limiting the Bears (15-23, 9-11) to one earned run.

Karter Beving earned the win after pitching out of trouble in the seventh inning. He allowed one earned run after walking two batters. Casey Clair cleaned up the game by throwing a pair of scoreless innings to earn the save.

ECC goes back on the road for a three-game series at Marshalltown CC. Two games are scheduled to be played Friday and one contest on Saturday.
