The public is invited to the Ellsworth Community College baseball team's fifth annual Lead Off Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 pm at Highland Golf Club in Iowa Falls. A highlight will be the keynote address from Pat Murphy, Milwaukee Brewers Bench Coach.
"Last year we had a tremendous response to this event, and we are hoping to have continued success this year," explains ECC Head Coach Travis Akre. "This event will fund our spring trips and equipment upgrades, as well as providing substantial funds to the Martin Dittmer baseball scholarship."
ECC alumni, baseball enthusiasts, family, friends, and supporters of ECC baseball are invited to attend.
Keynote speaker Pat Murphy, the current Bench Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers, has been with the organization since 2015. Before joining Milwaukee, Murphy was with the San Diego Padres for six seasons and was the Head Coach at Arizona State University for 15 seasons. He led the Sun Devils to 12 NCAA Regional appearances and four World Series. Also, he led ASU to a runner-up finish in 1998. Prior to ASU, Murphy led Notre Dame for seven years with four regional apperarances. He played collegiate baseball at Florida Atlantic University and played professionally with the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.
The Lead Off Dinner will include a welcome from Head Coach Akre, a meet-and-greet with the 2018 baseball team, and a silent auction. Items in the silent auction include autographs from Ozzie Smith, Evan Longoria, Robin Yount, Mark Grace, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson and more!
